What are the POP3/SMTP Settings for my Email Client?

Article in English Articol în Română

Below is information in reference to email settings for mail clients such as Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird etc.

Replace domain.com with your actual domain name.

Secure SSL/TLS Settings (Recommended)

Username: email@domain.com
Password: Use the email account’s password.
Incoming Server: mail.domain.com
  • IMAP Port: 993
  • POP3 Port: 995
Outgoing Server: mail.domain.com
  • SMTP Port: 465
IMAP, POP3, and SMTP require authentication.

Non-SSL Settings (NOT Recommended)

Username: admin@domain.com
Password: Use the email account’s password.
Incoming Server: mail.domain.com
  • IMAP Port: 143
  • POP3 Port: 110
Outgoing Server: mail.domain.com
  • SMTP Port: 26
IMAP, POP3, and SMTP require authentication.

NOTE: if you use mail.domain.tld address as server name, Add Security Exception window may appear. That happens, because SSL for exim, dovecot, ftp, cPanel and other services is installed to the servername and for mail.domain.tld warnings appear. Click Confirm Security Exception button to proceed.

To avoid this, use your servername for incoming/outgoing server: server#.ghesi.net
